About the Bodywork offered:
Structural Integration is a type of bodywork that focuses on fascia, a connective tissue of the body that surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels, organs, and nerves, binding some structures together while permitting others to slide smoothly over each other. Fascia is designed to be elastic and move freely with muscles and bones. Injury, stress, work-related repetitive movements and the effects of aging can cause fascia to lose its elasticity and become shorter, tighter, and denser. Tightened fascia pulls our muscles and skeleton out of proper alignment and posture, causing pain, discomfort, and fatigue. Structural Integration works to reverse these adverse effects. In these packages, you will receive the first three sessions of the 10 series. These will work on mobilizing and realigning the hip and shoulder girdles, re-exploring foundations of posture. Sessions are completed in light clothing, transition on and off the table, and utilize client participation such as muscle action and breathing cues that work to help re-educate movement and posture. These will help you maximize the results of fitness training and restore overall functionality of the musculoskeletal system.
About the Personal Movement Consultation offered:
A good Personal Trainer’s goal is not to make their service so indispensible that the client cannot eventually learn to work out on their own/without supervision effectively. The challenge is to empower and enrich the client with the tools and knowledge to take charge of their health and fitness. The value in private sessions lies in individual attention with a knowledgeable and educated teacher that can help you safely understand and learn your body mechanics and form, as well as master a wide vocabulary of exercises and movements. Our movement consultations consist of a functional movement screening and mobility analysis, which will then be used to identify and work towards correcting improper muscular recruitment patterns in gait and form. Our goal is to deliver a cost-effective way to teach a diverse number of clients helpful strategies and body awareness, instilling the confidence to take charge of and help develop their own unique exercise habits, and/or to transition into our group training classes.
